1.I totally understand the feeling of overload with e-mails since I have been working under Student Life. The amount of bogus e-mails, memos, voicemail,and more can be quite a lot. I do appreciate those who do leave messages for me or my department where it is not overbearing or just ridiculous.
2.Having Jeff come in as our guest speaker in class was quite enjoyable, especially to be able to hear someone that works in the industry give us a few tips on how to better our skill and how to work with others in the PR/Journalism field.

3.When looking back over my four years in college, I have had many friends who constantly live and breathe Facebook, MySpace, and now Twitter. They usually get on to me because I’m not on there a lot with 100 plus notifications, but I know I have other priorities besides being stuck on a computer looking at Facebook. It is sad how our generation absolutely lives off of technology and the Web. Now you can text to your Facebook and Twitter which keeps my generation stuck on the phone or quickly back to computer to keep up to date of the latest status, relationship, pictures, and mainly gossip.

4.  I’m sure just like everyone else we all failed the first time see the dancing bear walk though. It’s odd how we can be so focused on doing one particular thing that we fail to even recognize anything or anybody that may be near or associated around us. The fact that we missed seeing a dancing bear walk right through the basketball players could signify that there are many other issues going on in society that could be dangerous, conniving, or unhealthy to us and we not even notice. Or do we see them and just ignore them?

5. I cannot fathom one of my female cousins or nieces being caught up in sex trafficking. It angers me to think that whoever is behind these operations have the nerve to force these human beings to be abused. These trafficking leaders probably have children themselves or at least a loved one they wouldn’t want involved in a scandal that causes so many other issues from the after affect the abuse. This does need to be stopped and more people need to be aware of this problem at hand.

6. Since this is one of areas of expertise, I agree with you that promoting your group is highly important, but also how you will promote them. Depending on the type of people that the group is targeting will determine the type of photo for promotion. Some abstract can be used for a worship though. It’s all how you do it. I really like the photo for CPR they look great. I would suggest next to start working on a team logo and maybe T-shirts to sell at your venues. Got to have some income to help pay expenses. Have you print glossy pics of the team and sold those? Let me know if you need any help in that area.

7. These type of issues really irks my nerves because we should have already know about this issue whether it was true or not. We shouldn’t have to find out that there was a possible gun point robbery on our campus through Facebook or the newspaper. Some people…. well I’ll stay nice for now. But God forbid that it was a serial robbery and we didn’t know what happen. Just a little cute e-mail saying be careful and watch out for weird people. PLEASE! Let us know what’s going on the campus where we live, work and learn.

8. This situation is really messy for her. Her husband been cheating on her and she goes and adopts a baby boy before all this mess explodes in her life. All I have to say is, if you want to get out of a relationship then say it up front. It’s more painful to find out honestly then finding out through cheating because now you think everything is ok (maybe there was a suspicion) when there was somebody behind the scenes the entire time. This disgusts me when a man thinks he’s the man of the house then goes and sneaks behinds his family and cheat. If you want out get out! Don’t waist time sneaking when you can be honest and leave or go get counseling if there area issues. I hate it when people cheat. I’ve seen it too many time from friends, family, and those close to me.

9.This post is very helpful because there are times when trying to make that connection with other vendors, companies, clients, etc., it can be quite nerve wrecking. Trying to figure out what to say, how to say it, and how long to talk is difficult especially for new comers on the scene trying to make those connection. My mentor is great at meeting someone new and talking to them as if they are best friends, but he always gets connected that way too. Being comfortable and bold to meet new people at any moment is great skill to have, especially for communication majors in college.

10. This is a breath taking story. We can take life for granted so easily because of this job, family, marriage, money, fame, status, etc. This young lady at 25-yrs-old can barely breathe and wants to share her last few moments of life with world. When half the time the world doesn’t even care because the world has bigger issues. I saddens me that someone only three years older than myself is suffering with this illness and just wants to live, breath, and enjoy life. WOW! She is a hero or Shero!

11. After listening to Jeff, I felt like we were friends. He is so down to Earth and TALL! The opportunities he had straight from college really encouraged me that whatever is your calling do it the best because eventually there will be an opening in that field that will be perfect. That’s why it’s so important to connect with people who have influence especially in that preferred field. YOu never know. We might need Jeff down the road.

12.This is absolutely beautiful! The descriptions really makes me analyze my life of how I treat people, how I carry myself, especially since I am a Christian. I want to be that light to people in any environment. I am a child of God, I am a servant, I am a disciple of God, I am loving to the unloveable, etc. This is something to really pray about, meditate, then change anything in life that needs to be change to be better representation of Christ.

13.I’ve always enjoys hearing the announcers over the radio. I remember trying to visualize what the announcer may look like compared to their voice. One day I got to meet an announcer at a radio station and he looked nothing what I thought he would. I visualized this big black guy, but he was a skinny short black guy. Shocked me!

14.   Ok I’m going to focus on the Dominos Video! I’ve never seen anything like where there was complaints about a product and the company actually when out to deal with the situation and make it better. Not only did they fix it, but went back to those who complained to see if it was up to par! WOW! It was hilarious though to even see people respond to this commercial. It’s a great advertisement tool as well. None of the other pizza companies have done a reality commercial. It brings it alive and makes you feel that the company actually cares.

15.  I remember listening to my first Podcast which was in PR class with prof. Nixon. I was surprised how natural it felt to listen. It felt like the people were sitting right in front me just talking the topic at hand. Podcasts are really enjoyable especially on whatever preferred speaker or topic whether it is PR, religion, radio gossip, music topics, etc. I’m looking forward to listening to more in the near future.

16.I always enjoy hearing a good story, but mostly I love telling them. It irritates me when someone is telling a story or I’m reading one and I’m trying to make sense to the gibberish that is being said. When listening to a story everyone wants to hear the root of the story, the plot, the climax, any surprises, and the resolution. Storytelling has to become memorable event where one can picture exactly what is being told.

17. I remember working for a certain employer that required strict neatness when taking notes and making sure all the information was correct. I noticed the importance when I started working for another employer and their level of professionalism was quite low and even receiving information from him was very confusing and information was correct so it made it very difficult for me to do my job to pass information. It is very important to have the correct information and have it on time.

18. I agree with the other comments. Taking this course was a lot and time consuming but contained very good information that can be used in other arenas. All the of the jobs that is necessary to make newspapers operate properly was a shock. I recently found out some disturbing information about SEU through the local newspaper. They are quite convenient and very informational even about different sales or information that could help later in life.

19. I have found out the commenting on others’ blogs can spark a conversation or connection that can be very useful in any area of work. It feels good to see that somebody actually looked at your page. Someone may even have some information that can help in a field of work or just answer a question. Possibly commenting can start a good friendship. I view commenting compared to reply to someone’s status on Twitter or Facebook.

20. I totally agree with you that technology has change the music industry. SInce I’ve been touring and traveling for the past couple of years, the music has changed drastically. Now that there are more sounds and ways to produce music, I wonder how many of the artist actually are artist and not using their money to get a name. It’s sad because today, you don’t have to be extremely talented to make it in. It’s all about who know and how to get to them at the right time, and that is in the secular and Christian music industries. Times have changed.

22. Well, since I am a music guy, this band does sound interesting and sounds like they are on a good start. I would like to hear more about the background of the band was formed and what target audience is their focus. I love hearing about new bands or artists starting from their career. Especially if they are starting to push through the industry. Hearing new music is what keeps our society and culture evolving everyday. We need more of it.

23. You are right on it. I believe that not saying what needs to be said enables people to stay in their mess or to continue to their “wilderness circle”. There comes a time in life when we have to make a stand, set the standard to no longer be silent. That’s the problem with many ministries and business that there are people who have something to say but because of their fear or insecurity issues get pushed under the rug time and time again. Who will break the silence?

24. I also enjoyed the Lead Lab. It was very interactive. My favorite part was learning to take notes with the ex-police officer attempting to kill himself. Also learning how to put the leads the together was insightful where they are not too wordy, but get to point quickly and keeps the readers wanting read the rest of the story. Lead Lab is a great refreshing tool for getting involved with writing in the media for any venue.

25. Getting job in this economy can be very difficult. I am proud to say that I recently got hired at a church. Before this church, it was difficult. I was searching and searching all over. I turned in about 20 applications to many business and companies. I only got one interview out of 20. Now this church heard about me and wanted to bring me on, but I continued to work on my resume and even the interview process. As long as you stay strong in searching, you will find a job that fits perfectly.
